mel's fiber optics

is working just fine...quick as can be.
but, i will be keeping visi for the time being.

it will be some months before i have things moved over.

i do have a new gmail address:
melpots7575@gmail.com

this address will be used for receiving downloads, big pix files, and
those pesky twenty minute movies that folks love to send on.
`you gotta see this`. well, with dial up speeds it was rather
hard on my schedule...wait ten minutes, see a minute.
now, it works like a wonder.
so, at this time i have the old qwest line working, and that
is 256 megs.
and the fiber at 5.5 speed.
it only costs a few bucks to keep the old line active.
(i have two modems, on two phone lines coming in.)
and, if folks don't load me with a pix file of 90 views of
their last firing sent to visi, my life will be smooth.
(and keep in mind, i will not open anything that is not a standard
email on visi. zap.)

Test your speed here:

http://www.speedtest.net/

I just tested at 28.33 mb/s download.

In Japan, out in the boondocks of Mashiko, we had 100 mb/s download.

I just went and did this, out of morbid curiosity.
I got 0.03 mb/s. Yes, that's three one-hundredths
of a meg per second. Whee...

Now you know why I never look at the links you
guys post. Just loading the webpage for the speed
test took five minutes!
