a glaze question

Hi All,
I am in need of a very dependable glaze, for use in wood firing, with a
range from cone 8-cone 11........with most of its use in the cone 8-9 zone=
.
I usually fire to cone 12 flat to cone 13 and have a good group of glazes
that work in that range.
Due to the fact that I am getting better flashing and some nice, dry ash
deposits with my current clays (indigenous clays) I am going to place all o=
f
those in the cooler areas of my small anagama hybrid.
I am looking for something that is pretty low key, since it will only be
used as a liner for teapots, etc.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I want to thank you folks for your kind answers to a couple of
earlier questions that I posted. I am relatively new to Clayart and find =
it to
be a terrific resource.
Thank you.

Hi All,
Does anyone know if the following glaze, based on first hand experience,
will work as a liner in a wood firing throughout a range of cone 7-cone 11=
?

50 Plastic Vitrox Clay
50 Gerstley Borate
10 Zircopax

Thanks in advance for any info.

Bruce,

I emailed this glaze formula to clayart(in response to your post) during th=
e
down time of last week and never saw it appear. I use this in my fast-fire
wood kiln with results I like. The more iron in the body the more gray and
speckled it gets, its pretty white on M. Wendt's helmer body that I throw
some. There is alot of info on this in the archives(search Plastic
Vitrox). While there are comments on its formula/stability I have both
tested in vinegar for several days and have some bowls that have been thru
10's if not 100's of dishwasher cycles with no issues(I use on the outside
of things as well). It develops early and I have not seen any issues at
Cone 11+.
I can say, yes, based on my experience it will work and works in my wood
fired kiln.
