Mind Over Matter-Printing with Colored Clay

Workshop and Exhibit w/ Mitch Lyons

Open to all Levels-Demonstration only

Mitch Lyons will be demonstrating his unique Clay "printing process" and
also hand-building on and off the wheel. Participants will be shown how
he applies his variety of textures, colored clays, and slips for
printing and hand-building ceramic forms without a seam, as can be seen
in his exhibit "Clay Prints and Vessels" to be shown at the Workhouse
Arts Center March 19-April 25, 2010.

sketch book and a bag lunch.

During his weekend with us, Val will demonstrate and discuss the process
of working with clay, and learning to develop a methodology about how to
generate ideas, find self-direction and bringing a personal voice into
your own work. Focus will be on using the potter's wheel as a tool and
vehicle for expression. Val will also discuss while demonstrating how
his own artwork has evolved over the years through his individual
interpretations of nature and his continued exploration and awareness of
the world around him." =3D20

*Workshop participants should plan to participate in group discussions,
bring a sketch book, bag lunch and a couple examples of finished work
(optional).

Raku Workshops

Get fired up (!) for a great time and learn all aspects of the Raku
Firing process at the Workhouse Ceramics Studio. Workshops will be led
by one of the Workhouse Ceramics Resident Artists and/or Instructors.
Requirements: 5-7 pieces of pre-fired Bisque ware. Participant must wear
proper clothing consisting of long sleeves, long pants, closed toed
shoes and long hair tied back.=3D20
