I blog with friends who live a ways away from our Empty Bowl event and have=
expressed great interest in going to an E B project but say they don't kno=
w where one would be held. Because they live in cities, I suspect Empty Bow=
ls are held that they don't hear about because publicity is expensive and w=
ould cut into the proceeds severely. We've also found that newspapers & rad=
ios seem to only print/broadcast the information if they have the space at =
that moment.
Would it be acceptable for potters involved in Empty Bowl organizers to ann=
ounce their events here on Clayart, so we can share the information with pe=
ople who live in the vicinity of the event?

With that in mind....The Palouse Studio Potters Guild in partnership with t=
he Moscow Food
Co-op and Heart of the Arts will be holding our Empty Bowls project on
April 17th 2010 at the Moscow 1912 Building. This will take place from
10:00-1:30. With the soup and site donated we are able to donate all
our proceeds to hunger organizations.
For any one who would care to help us
by donating a bowl, we would be very grateful. You can contact me at
this email address for shipping information.
Thank you,
Jeanne W.

Jeanne,

I have found local radio stations, NPR affiliates, local newspapers are all
willing to announce/print information about these community events that
benefit non-profit charities. Each organization has it's own policies on
announcing community activities, but then, free advertising has it's
downside. How about finding a local business who has previously contributed
to the charitable organization support the event by buying ad time?

By-the-by, I assume this is not Moscow, Russia you write about. What state
is this?

We have an Empty Bowls event on January 31 here in Fredericksburg, VA that
will benefit the Rappahannock Council on Domestic Violence that provides
shelter and counseling for abused women in our region. I donate and work
this event.
There is also an empty bowls event in Northern Virginia in late February to
benefit Our Daily Bread Food Bank. I donate to this event.

Bill
