A lovely thought, but from everything I've read it would be far better =3D
to
have a fund raiser here and send the proceeds to a reputable =3D
organization
that is providing relief to Haiti. Their current critical needs are for
clean water, food, medical supplies, and shelter. Requests have been =3D
made by
the involved relief organizations not to send material donations that =3D
have
to be sorted and distributed.=3D20

Subject: [Clayart] Empty Bowls for Haiti Project

Has anyone thought of such a project?? Or some variation of such?

While most bowl projects ultimately provide food - how about providing
bowls. Surely there is a need for most everything there, and having =3D
bowls to
put food in would help I would think.

My connections and organizational skills aren't sufficient to lead such =3D
a
project, but I would do what I could to help.

The Clayart Community is probably the only group, organization or =3D
whatever
that would have the capacity to produce the bowls at low enough cost and =
=3D
in
sufficient quantity to meet the need. Drawing from all across Clayart =3D
Land,
a whole lot of bowls could be made and delivered. Those poor people down
there need virtually everything, bowls included.

Ideas, suggestions, comments?

The other aspect, is that the 3rd world has turned away from the old
metal and ceramic containers in favor of plastic. So they would
probably see our offer of handmade pottery as being a bit naive.
