If your old computer is dying and you need a new one (as for paying =3D
work),
then why would you buy a computer with a 7 year old, no-longer-supported
operating system (even though XP has been wonderful for these 7 years). =3D
If
fact I waited to buy my new computer until Windows 7 came out and was
reviewed well.

You certainly wouldn't go with Vista, a memory hog, slow and with little =
=3D
to
recommend it.

So the new computer came with Windows 7.

I also downloaded the software to install a Virtual XP machine for those
programs that won't work on Windows 7 but which worked on XP.

As a CPA, I use my computer for US income tax preparation programs
(ProSeries Professional) and QuickBooks as well as spreadsheet and word
processor programs. Linux and a Mac are not options for my tax =3D
preparation
software and that's how I earn my living.

I am trying to figure out why anybody needs to upgrade to 7. Most
of my software is open source and it sound like some might not work on
system 7. All of it works on XP and most of it works on Linux on my
netbook.
