I ususally use construction waste from home building sites, mostly 2x4's
and 2x6's. Most builders will let you haul it off for free, I can get one
firing from one house. Construction here has slowed enough that I've
begun supplementing that wood with pallet wood and it is a lot of work to
strip them down. The fastest method I've found is to cut underneath the
slats with a demo blade on a reciprocating saw. I can strip a pallet
pretty quick and there are no long nails sticking out, little bit safer.
