I'm a ceramic student with no transportation. At the beginning of the
year the class has a group buy from Aardvark so I order my clay then.

These are the clays easily ordered.

* Bee-Mix
* Black Mountain
* K.G.B.S.
* Rio Red
* Rod's Bod
* Soldate 60
* Terra Red
* Dixon Blend

I can also special order any of their other clays. We fire to cone 6.
Although for most of my sculptures I've been using low fire. I like the
colors I an get and the fact that I get to control the low fire kiln myself=
.

I am looking for a clay that is good for small to medium sculptures (o
larger that 3 to 4 feet, if that) but can be used for other
handbuilding. perhaps occasional throwing. I've used Black Mountain
Sculpture and Dixon and it's good for figures but sucks when humpmolding
. I really liked Bruce's White. The color was good and the few
sculptures I built with it were sturdy, but it's no longer available to
me. I'd like just one clay, if possible.

Any other suggestions you have on clays would be helpful.

I have been lurking on Clay Art for years and want to thank you all for
the knowledge I've gained from you.

Eve,
My students and I have used Soldate 60 for raku to ^10 firings.
I recommended this clay to my students for small and larger scale sculpture=
.
It is a great clay for all handbuilding methods.
We do throw it on the wheel, but it is a bit rough texture fro some folks.

Bill
