I like to use this glossy ^6 glaze (adapted to my materials) whose origin=

posted on clayart:

Gerstley Borate 26.61
Feldspat K11 56.12
Kaolin 6.78
Dolomit 0.09
Silica 10.41
add:
Chrome Oxide 2
Titanium Dioxide 5

that way it is olive, if the TiO is replaced with Tin Oxide it is an opaq=
=3D
ue=3D20
medium green.

All the stains I have tested came out very true to their colour, although=
=3D
some=3D20
reds and the orange like to pinhole if applied too thick. As I read once =
=3D
that TiO=3D20
is not necessary in the base with stains, I leave it out. I have tested t=
=3D
he=3D20
stains with and without and seen no difference in colour.

I would now like to use this glaze as a clear and have tested it over eng=
=3D
obe=3D20
with and without the 5 Titanium Dioxide. I am not sure if I can see any=3D2=
0=3D

difference, maybe the test with the TiO is just a little bit more glossy.=
=3D
But=3D20
then this might be just a difference in application.=3D20

Hamer + Hamer says that from 5 % on it should opacify, but here it does n=

ot=3D20
seem to. So should I put in the TiO or better leave it out?

Hi Heidy,

This is a high alumina glaze - a good thing if you don't want bubbles
in the clear glaze. No need for the TiO2 if you just want a clear.
