Eh...., I have had a North Star slab roller for about 15 years. Gears went =
a
while back when someone other than myself tried to force through a 50 lb ba=
g
of clay. I called North Star and a new set of gears was two days in the
mail, free. I don't consider myself a hobby potter and while the table of
the slab roller, minus the rollers (you can remove them easily) provides me
a secure work surface to admire my most excellent ware when I am not using
the slab roller. A matter of space saving considerations in my small studio=
.
I purchased the North Star knowing I am more of a thrower than handbuilder.
When I take a couple of weeks to make only slabs the North Star works great
for my slab hump and slump mold ware. It's not so much of what kind slab
roller you purchase but how you will use the slab roller you purchase. Sure
my neighbor with a big ass monster riding lawn mower can plow through his
whole acre lot of tall grass in an hour. Myself with a little push mower
takes a bit longer but there is no comparison in the satisfaction and
finished look of the yards.

I will have several ceramic vessels and other items on display and for sale
at the:

We had a North Star at Montana State in Billings prior to a Brent. =3D
Someone tried to roll a large hunk of plasticene through it and broke =3D
the plastic gears. North Star replaced those too and quickly. They was =3D
easy to install. Worked fine again when used properly. I did find that =3D
students could get the thickness setting off because of the two control =
=3D
knobs on each side. Very nice company to deal with.
