Hi clay artists,

I am wanting to develop a line of dishware, probably mid range. I=3DB9m in =
love
with majolica and would like to have similar look, yet that will break over
red clay. I need a temperature and clay body that will yield a red red, not
dark, not orange. I=3DB9ve heard that Navaho Wheel fires a nice red at cone=
1.
Anyone know how might I adjust Arbuckle=3DB9s glaze for a cone 1 body, down=
fro=3D
m
her 03 recipe (if you need it, let me know)?

The other issue is that I=3DB9d like to include custom decals that I silk s=
cree=3D
n
and that are food safe, and possibly dishwasher and microwave safe. I=3DB9v=
e
read about combining china paints with acrylic medium or water based
silkscreen emulsion, so that if using the stains and the medium, should be
food safe....Does anyone have more specific information on this process? A
recipe, perhaps? I also read that a =3DB3cover coat=3DB2 is used, I assume,=
over
china paints applied to glaze fired piece. I=3DB9ve read also that decals u=
sing
underglaze can be applied to green ware. If anyone knows the territory, I=
=3DB9d
love to chat.

And lastly, can anyone explain how the testing of dishware goes; the proces=
=3D
s
for a studio boutique pottery. Who, if anyone, does this in northern
California? How much does it cost? How often do I test? Do I test for every
piece I intend to sell or just once for the process?

Thanks. My =3DB3new=3DB2 studio space at the coast awaits me.
