Dear Adam;

Thank you for sharing the schedule. This is jolly interesting. Your ramp is
not a steep slope at all.

Mine averages out to 212 - 250 deg / hour with a very slow ramp at around
1122 deg F (550 - 610 C) . I varies it depends on the size of load and the
wares, but not too much.

May I ask what kind of glaze you have? Color / matte / glossy? Do you have =
=3D
a
Sentry 2.0 to record the firing cost? I am just curious. I always wonder
when is a good temperature to start slowing down (not to do with crystal
growth, but knowing when the glaze starts melting)

I have a Paragon TNF - 23- 3 (280 V) 1 Phase. 47 Amps and I will be firing =
=3D
a
simple transparent glaze to start with. It will be interesting to compare
cost and glaze effect: steep slope Vs gentle gradient.

Thanks again

Dear May,

I've just completed two ^6 glaze firings with a ramp/hold schedule that =3D
has
been working very well in my 6.7 cu ft Paragon electric with a computer
controller.

Here's the schedule I've used:
324=3DBA to 1022=3DBA
153=3DBA to 1122=3DBA
180=3DBA to 1908=3DBA hold 30 mins
108=3DBA to 2124=3DBA hold until ^6 drops (1 hour 40 mins for me).
About a 12 hour firing.

No pinholes and smooth glaze finishes. Of course, your mileage may vary
(test, test, test!).

Hope this helps. Feel free to email offlist with any questions.

Subject: Figuring out where's my cone 6 - computer controlled ramp =3D
firing

Hello all;

If my cone 8 on my kiln is end temp at 1238 C (2260 F) and hold at 8 =3D
min. Is
it safe to say if I minus 20 deg C (2224 F) and hold for 8 min , as a
starting point, to reach a cone 6 firing?

Thank you

May
