I've got a copy of The Japanese Pottery Handbook by Simpson, Kitto, Sodeoka=

; pub. Kodansha International, 1979. On p. 17 there is a TOMBO; a =3DC2=3DA=

pth and diameter gauge "made for use when many pots of the same size and sh=

ape are required. The Potter makes a separate=3DC2=3DA0 TOMBO fo each shape=

..repertoire. So howzzat...you cricket fans? I've got a more modern version=

of it on my wheel, but this is really all you need. Tinkabboudit. From you=
=3D
r first very fine pot -- which you want to copy until the end of time --you=
=3D
take the diameter and then the depth and you create a hanging gauge, the f=
=3D
irst with d and then the second gauge with h. With these measurements acros=
=3D
s and down; it's easy peasey. Just give it a think and some pencil work.=3D=
