just had a couple of nice events.
my garage door opener went phsssst, and a cable
broke.
called my guy, and out he came...about an hour later.
he fixed it, and said.
`hey, i love that mug you gave me last time...i use it
every morning....`

i said ` man, you sure got here fast...`, he said.
`i know who you are, and you are good to small business people,
we take good care of you.`
so,
he got a gift mug for his wife.
then he said...` i don't like the looks of that bottom panel, and
it has a lifetime warranty, i will call the manfg and have it replaced.`
nice.

also, a local radio show did a big bit on ridatick.
i stopped at the station and gave the show hosts
a few pots, and a mug for the jr. producer/and she
said on the air...`i got a mug from mel, and i love it.`
the other two guys claimed that their pots were far
superior to her mug....she did not agree.

so, that mug got me 5 more minutes of air time
on the flagship station of minnesota.
what is that worth per minute..????

it was an interesting side bar to our discussion of mugs, cost
and size.
so, i sat down and threw 40 mugs this morning...various sizes and
shapes, and i have a new frit/bright blue and green glaze that i got
from colleen riley/donovan palmquist's wife, and my sorta daughter.
bright as can be. makes `mother in law blue` look like dullsville.
stay with the times. those will fly off the shelf at my next sale.
$17 bucks each. (in between what has been said here on clayart.)

and, my new phone with a key board is bringing me into the
text world. the only way i can keep in touch with my grand kids. (20 and 1=
8)
kyle told me the other day....as we were texting back and forth...
`my girl friend said, `who in the heck sends you full paragraph
text messages, with punctuation...`my grandpa....``WAY COOL`.
i really laughed. i was really surprised how easy that tiny key board
is to use with my thumbs...now i understand.

Our 14-year-old niece spent the weekend with my wife and me.
She types on her iphone with amazing speed. Yesterday we
took her to Paragon and fired glass fused pendants. After we
returned to Paragon to pick them up, she photographed them
with her
iphone and loaded them to Facebook while we were still
driving home.

Funny, my 14 year old son is capable of speaking in complete sentences. He
gets excellent grades in school. But. . . . when he is texting or writing
something on facebook it is in a new language. There are no vowels and
everything is in acronyms. Sometimes I have to go to
www.acronymfinder.comjust to figure out what he is saying

Hi Mel,

I am only extracting a bit of your e-mail, so it won't be too long. I am
writing this from France. Wanted to tell you all that Skype has been great =
for
texting my daughter and grandchildren, as well as calls via computer, and
calls to their land and cell phones at very very little cost. Getting used =
to
texting, like Mel, and full sentences, as I have no clue about text
shortcuts. Hope they think it is cool too, Mel!

Hank, if you are reading this, went to the Entrecote for dinner. If anyone
is going to Paris anytime and wants to know more about this great restauran=
t
(you do have to be meat eaters to like it) let me know. We are here seeing
my brother and his family and it has been great. Everone loved their potter=
y
gifts!

Mel, those mugs do wonders. I give pottery gifts every year to folks to
have been good to us in all the services, and they really seem to appreciat=
e
them.

Hope everyone is enjoying the Fall.

Veena
