I use straight Barnard clay mixed with water to stain the texture in
unglazed areas of my carved vases. I think that Barnard and Blackbird
are very nearly the same and react the same. Use it on leatherhard,
wet, and bisque. I, also, have used Barnard as a decoration over or
under glazes. Just Barnard and water. Nothing else needs to be added.
