Hello everyone! I hope you all are having a great summer so far! I
just returned from a nice two week trip, where I taught two one-day
workshops at the fabulous Sharon Arts Studio in Golden Gate Park.
What a great group of people - so much fun! I also managed to spend
a few days with Lana Wilson in Berkeley, shooting her making a great
serving dish, and interviewing her, and am working on an article
about her now! Lanalanalana! She is my hero, and one of the most
loveliest of beings!
I wanted to let you know I'm hosting another one of my inexpensive
studio workshops in Denver, CO coming up in a couple of weeks:
Studio Workshop July 11, 2009
At the workshop we will start by making a textured slab cup, then
move on to slab handles, which includes a lesson on how to modify
templates to achieve the form you have in mind. We will break for
lunch when everyone is ready and go to a nearby restaurant. Lunch
time usually involves the tracing of templates, and I try to pick a
unique local place. After lunch, I will demonstrate as many
techniques as we have time for, popular items at past workshops have
been the platters made with a double-sided slab and the puffed rims,
slab spouts, and the pitchers. I will pretty much demo anything you'd
like to see. The workshop starts at 10 and ends around 5. The fee is
$75, and will be limited to 5 people.
This is a 'bring your own clay, take what you make with you' workshop!
Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and to
request a registration form.
Please visit my website to see examples of my work and what we will
be making and to download free templates!
