If you use ADVANCER shelves....Don't put any kiln wash on them.
Sprinkle KYANITE on the shelf or take your waxed footed pot and press
the foot into a thin layer of KYANITE , then place the pot on your kiln
shelf. This works extremely well if your porcelain has a tendency for
the foot to have piece of the foot stick to the shelves.

When you post ADVANCER shelves, the post can stick to the shelf. If
you're not careful you can break the corner off of the shelf. I put a
dime thin layer of KYANITE on the shelf before putting the post in.
After the post is in place, put a dime thin layer of KYANITE on the top
of the post before you put on the next kiln shelf. After firing, the
KYANITE will simply brush off the shelf and post. If any KYANITE does
stick to the glossy surface that the shelf has, use a carbide concrete
tool or broken kiln shelf to rub off the excess KYANITE. You can use
the KYANITE more than once

If there isn't KYANITE listed with your ceramic dealer use MULLITE.
These materials look like a grey and white grog. . The original
Mullite came from the Island of Mull. The current Kyanite come from
Virginia.
