Hello all,

I have a Skutt modle km-1227 automatic kiln.

here is my story....

while quinn and i were loading the bisque, the doggone
thing started rising in temp.. what the %&**!!
bumped the controller with my knee... Turn it \
off i said tried he did ... nope.. so tripped the
breaker...

next am i came in to turn on the olympic and discovered
he had turned on the skutt...hmmm well seems to be ok..

came back coupla hours later... skutt off with error2
code.. hmmm ok.

so today i was unloading the little guy and i bumped
the controller box and the thing took off again, felt
like the top ring on high...what the &*%%!! would not
respond to stop.

shut off breaker.

oh oh. now what? well write to my buddies on clayart
of course.

thank you for any/all input... there is only one guy
in this town that repairs kilns but i should have some
kind of idea what is needed before i call him.

you may have a faulty relay. if it is an intermittent problem, it may
be hard to diagnose. usually in my experience, the contacts get
fused closed, as a result of the arcing that occurs when the contacts
open and close. they have a limited number of times that they will
open and close without failure. change out the faulty power relay,
perhaps all of them for good measure, and your problem should go away.

Hi,
There have been some problems with a certain brand of relay which Skutt
was putting in their kilns. Did you call Skutt? Ask for Perry, he is
quite helpfull. Hopefully you will get Skutt to send you a field
replacement kit with adapter plate for free. The instructions are easy
and it's a snap to do it yourself. I had no problem switching them out.
