Hi

I cut my grates out of silicone carbide shelves and also out
of english made cone 10 shelves. Both shelves cut readily with a
cheap 7" diamond blade mounted in a 7.5" skill saw and water and
stand up to wood fire cone 10/12 and cone 10 wood soda. After 8 years
of use none have failed.

Hey Bryan, thanks for your reply.? How wide did you make the strips for the grate?? I too know the strength for materials on edge. I' ve cut them with the same saw/ blade set up with ease when modifying shelf length for the upper part of my caternary arch of my kiln.
