raku question- hot pots and water

Dear Deb,

Please do yourself a favor and do not hose off pieces. All this will
accomplish is to increase breakage. If you must use water ( why? ) at lease use a
misting nozzle available at any hardware store. It doesn't matter if it is
Raku clay or not- water and hot pots is a bad combination,

How long you leave the pot in the sawdust is determined by the effects you
are trying to achieve. If going for lustre the pots should cool in the
reducing atmosphere. If you just want the black they can come out much faster.
