Dear Katie Ellis,
If your work is thrown then you may need to adopt the system used by
the Zinc Crystal people.
They turn a catch plate that is in contact with a foot ring all the
way round. Fire the two part together during bisque then use a slurry
of Kaolin/Aluminium hydrate to separate each pot from its support for
the glaze firing. This should resist the effects of Sodium Carbonate
so that the parts easily separate after firing.
