Does anyone have any experience with this clay? I've never been able to=
get "black" with this clay, just a deep chocolatey brown at ^6 ox and a=
nice blue/black at ^9 reduc. And all the clears I've tried on it takes it=
to a milk chocolate. I've contacted Kickwheel and they're really nice but=
haven't been able to help.

Any sharing would be great.

Thanks,
Nina

I have used this clay and love it. After bisque, coat it with RIO and
wipe off; it will look like cast iron after firing to ^6ox.

Hi Nina,
How are you firing?
I used KPS Black Raven when I loved in Mo and fired it in either raku or
heavy ^10 reduction and was really happy with the results. The "cast iron"
description is perfect, though I didn't wash it with anything.
In fact, that's the only drawback to moving back out west - I cvan't find a
black clay like that anywhere in my reasonable shipping area. That Black
Raven was one of my favorites, though I really liked all the KPS clays I
used.

I used KPS Raven with excellent results for the three years I was in Atlanta. Always black and beautiful....but I never glazed it it all.

Your results may vary. I was after black clay...if I wanted black clay AND black shiny surface glaze...I would have used a black glaze on top....not a milky white color.

It has a good texture and excellent black color in electric or gas gas fire from what I could see in my work.

Ric

ps...LOVED in Mo or lived there? or maybe BOTH!? or a Typo???
