Clayart folk...

We are up to 30 contributors to the book list so far=2C so we are probably =
getting close to a good sample. Lots of contributions from "lurkers" and f=
rom clayart small fry like myself=2C but the higher up the clayart food cha=
in you go=2C the fewer the contributions. I'll continue to collect your li=
sts through the end of the week=2C then I'll get to work on sorting the dat=
a. I'll try to get everything written up and posted by Monday=2C but it de=
pends on how much time I have in between pours for the pile of molds I have=
to make.

Thanks to all who have contributed so far=2C and to those who still plan to=
.

Be well.

...James

Dear James,
My very favorite book of all time (claywise) is "Mary Rogers on Hand Building and Porcelain" Next is "Making Pottery Without a Wheel" I think by Loos? After that is Betty Blandino's "Coiling Pottery." I just found that one out in a box in our garage. I am ecstatic because at last I am beginning to find the studio stuff I actually want and need after my move in Nov. of 2006! Robert Fournier's books are all on that list! Of course Ron and John's book and Robbin Hopper's books are invaluable. Hopper's title is "Ceramic Spectrum."
I also have a HUGE pile of books on ancient pottery, decoration and design. I can't give all the titles because they are still packed. Besides, the list would be very long. When for any reason I couldn't get into the studio (vacations, sickness or any other distraction) I would pour over the pictures and make countless sketches of vessel shapes and decorative patterns.
Well, that's my two cents worth. --Kim H.
