So many of you so generously responded to this. I thought
people might enjoy the tale of how it got fixed.
We had put the bottom element wires to the top and they worked, so we
knew it wasn't the elements. We were staring at the wiring in a
depressed fashion hoping for inspiration...........
Now the next two steps in the story happened almost simultaneously
and much faster than it takes to tell. A bird flew in the window,
pooped on both my everloving and myself and flew out again so quickly
that we could not even identify it! A flash of inspiration
accompanied this arial and messy messenger. The box between the heat
control switch and the elements!That had not been checked as it was
recently replaced.......changed it and et voila! Success!
In retrospect I think it must have been the Blue bird of Happiness :)
