edouard's blue ash

When Edouard post's his glaze experiments on his blog I usually take a
look at them. I was testing glazes looking for ones that had unusual
materials combinations. I mixed up a batch of a Blue Ash glaze from
Edouard's site. I believe he was firing them at cone 4 in his gas kiln.

I decided to try it at cone 6 in my electric kiln. When I made the
glaze I accidently omitted the lithium carbonate, but the glaze came
out great. When I tried it later with the lithium it did not look as
nice.

Here is the recipe for Edouard's blue ash. It's a variegated blue
glaze that changes in appearance if layered. You can see it on a pot
at my cone 6 website below.

Edouard's Blue Ash - lithium carbonate
---------------------------------------------------
6.7 EPK
11.2 Frit 3110
6.7 Flint
42.7 Kona F-4
11.2 Frit 3134
21.3 Woodash
----------------------
3.4 Bentonite
1.7 Cobalt Carbonate
5.1 Rutile

(this glaze has been recalculated to add up to 100 after I removed the
lithium)
