glaze free-trade society: what's all this about

As I don't subscribe to CT I have no idea what the brouhaha is about....

Trying to follow Wire Rabbit down the hole, I reconstruct this as: CT
published a recipe--author unknown. John H wrote them and said he was the
originator and the recipe was in his and Ron's book. CT then wrote a reply
to John that offended Taylor....

Why CT gets the Rush Limbaugh medal is not stated.

The underlying point seems to be--and I will demonstrate this in a later
post-- that no matter what the glaze recipe is, IT IS OUT THERE! There are
only so many ingredients, and only so many combinations that will make a
decent glaze at a given temperature in a particular firing mode.

The only new glazes are those that show up when a new material is introduced
to the pottery market. Strontium, for instance, was out of sight costly
when I was a student. We did not use it. When it became affordable I
started using it. When barium was expelled from the studio, more people
started using it. And like that.

If CT knew that John was the one to publish this recipe in formal style, it
was discourteous not to name him. Otherwise--just remember that Anonymous
is the most famous poet/composer of them all!
