controller programming

Hi Hank,

I had a friend who did exactly the kind of coding you need for your
kiln, but I lost touch with him. The person you are looking for has
to know how to write computer code and have an understanding of
mechanical issues.

As an example, my friend wrote the code for Caterpillar tractor for
a machine to test their diesel engines. It was a huge project at the
time and his wife who is a neurologist needed to move across the
country for her career. He was going with her and Caterpillar needed
his code writing ability so much that they paid for him to commute
back and forth across the country to finish the job. This was when we
lost touch.

This kind of code writing isn't cheap. Every time my friend Kip took
a new job, his salary jumped 10K at a time.
I never knew him to stay at one company for more than a year and he
was never out of work. The problem with getting someone to code your
program will be that the programmer will want to earn more than you
probably would like to pay them for the job, and those with the skills
are in high demand.
