Like Vince I use Medex and find it pretty well foolproof. The only Caveat is don't dampen them before slapping clay on (a common habit with wooden ones), it'll skid straight off!!
I must admit though I still prefer my Birch Ply ones, some of which I've used for 30 plus years!
