report on glaze tests

updated sun 25 may 08

William & Susan Schran User on tue 20 may 08

Sent this back on May 6 while Clayart took a well deserved vacation, so here
it is again:

A while back I'd asked about using the "fuzzies" that have been growing on
my plaster drying bat. Well I finally sprinkled some on my during my last
glazing session. Dropped them on a wet shino glaze and here's the result:

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w265/wschran/spring200801.jpg

So surprised by the dark color.

I also ran some tests on the glaze Mel posted that he had applied over a
temmoku. I mixed a small batch and applied, rather thickly, over our Ohata
Kaki and our Temmoku (iron & cobalt) glazes. Both fired ^10 reduction:

Let me know if you have any questions.

Bill

Yeah, I don’t sit there and do sets.

I throw a few dozen cups, trim, handle, bisque, then when I get ready to gl=
aze, I group them according to size/shape and glaze those the same.

Odd balls get test glazes.

All the pots were ^10 reduction.

Ok, call me nuts, I do ^10 reduction, ^6 crystalline and during the summer,=
raku.
