I got some nice tests out of th NCC kiln at the Gebben woodfire
workshop. Showed them to Mike at Continental, along with my high
alumina shino, mogusa and "You Betcha" Ko-shigaraki. Craig has a
couple of sources for feldspar inclusions and my experiments very much
like the original. Part of the key is the correct particle size.
I am now testing there new soda clay, which has some tooth and
their new Woodfired Porcelain, which has some Helmars in it in Craig
Edward's anagama and the soda kiln at NCC. Craig has some Helmars
ordered too. Craig says it will be "an anagama full of test tiles!"
haha.
You can buy Continental B-clay now. It can mature at a
lower temp than these other two clays.
My show in the fall will have Japanese examples beside the
work reinterpreted into USA materials. I will have all recipes
available at the show. Pretty exciting for me.
