postcard images: school me?

I won't comment on aesthetics of post cards, other than "keep it
simple." they are so small, that when people try to cram too much
info into such a small space that the results turn out rather
unfortunate.

if you need them printed cheap and fast, there is a nice outfit out
of madison, wisconsin, called "port to print" they will accept data
online, their turnaround is fast, their work is good, and at least
when I was in school making postcards for shows a couple times a
year, they were dirt cheap.

http://www.porttoprint.com/

I have no connection, except as a very satisfied customer. The guy
that I dealt with, jim divine, was very nice to work with, and very
accommodating, even though I was really only a small fry of a customer.

Hi Kelly,

Big Congrats!!

I get my cards from vistaprint.com They are reasonable (and have regular
sale prices), good quality and the on-line assistance is top notch. You can
download a templet for the size you want and you just plug it in. The beast
rates are color glossy on one side, b&w on the other. I just bought 5000
business cards - full color, one side - $79 + shipping. My last show cards
were big 5x8 post cards and I think 1000 cards were around $150 on sale.

I have to pick an image for my MFA show postcard. Does anybody have a
favorite look, pet peeve, best postcard company, example of a card to
show me? Any do's and dont's from past experience?

I'm done with final exams (taking and giving) and my grades are turned
in as of Saturday night. We spent sunday digging postholes for a new
28X28 garden spot in the back yard (all my kids are big enough to dig!)
and now I'm in the studio full time, remaking and remaking my best pots
for the show.

If I were doing the cap-and-gown walk it would be this weekend.. but I
am not. I'm graduating summa cum laude -- I just don't consider myself
graduated until my show has been set up, defended and "opened".

Kelly, if you want to send me your top 5 choices or a link to them I would be happy to look at them. I can also advise you on a few companies as well.
