I just received this from the National Education Association and
thought I would pass it along for all teachers, Mike Gordon

NEH program provides free art, resource book.

The AP (4/17) reports on Picturing America, "a new initiative by the
National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH)" that provides "schools and
libraries" with "40 color reproductions of great American art and a
resource book" at no cost "to help teachers incorporate the art into
lessons for kindergartners through high school students." The AP notes,
"The pictures, which are 2-by-3 feet, include everything from a
portrait of George Washington to Dorthea Lange's iconic 1936 picture of
a migrant mother and her children." One educator using the program
called it "a fabulous selection because" the reproductions "cover
native cultures; they have architecture, they have sculpture, they have
paintings." She added "that looking at a large reproduction of a work
rather than a small picture in a textbook has a bigger impact."
