post fire reduction and copper lusters

Had the opportunity to do some post fire reduction for a crystal glaze
muddobber friend of mine in a small jerry rigged test kiln. Took it up to
cone 016 and introduced some combustion. Got good results. The last firing
had a pot of mine that had a ash glaze over a cone 6 copper red.The copper
developed a flash of bright penny copper like a raku copper. The reduction
continued till the chamber was dark red. Got that from Rhodes..Clay and
Glazes for the Potter.
Post reduction's not just for raku anymore....

Hey David,

Lo! -and the day will come when we can post pictures to this well serving,
but archaic beast of a forum. :)
Do you perhaps have a link to these colors of which you speak?

And from where I'm standing --it's been a good while since post-fire was
only about Raku...

hey Jesse...don't have any yet..soon..Phil has some here.
http://www.puttgarden.com/crystal/2007/Page.html sorry about the "orange
juice's not just for breakfast anymore" line which surely dates this old
potter. It just never occurred to me to post reduce my stoneware cone 7
pots...But then again this new test kiln kicks it up to 1500 and back down
so quick, about an hour and a half of stoking takes it to dark where lots of
luster magic can happen. It's a kick.

hi jesse.... here's the copper flash
http://www.puttgarden.com/crystal/2008/4-6-08/DSC01090.jpg
the pot on the other side is my next cone 7 copper red too reduced piece
that's going to take a ride to post reductionville. It caught a bad case of
livery colored copper which hopefully will be cured by a short road trip. Do
you post reduce non crystal pots? or not....
