Some time back I asked about ideas on our new glaze we were working on to
help stop crazing on our very low expansion oven clay. So far we are very
happy with it. Seem to be a very stable hard glaze that does not move up to
^11. The Petalite does seem to have brighten up the colors some. Our old
glaze did not craze but on rare occasions so it is a bit early to say this
will not have some sort of problem but I think the fit is very good.

Pics at http://www.pfeifferfirearts.com/clayarts.htm . Not the best pictures
but you do get some idea what it looks like with a number of color oxides.
All but the green work well in both ox and red. The green makes a not nice
pink but to our surprise some like it! Thanks to John britt's book we have a
very nice copper red to use in place of our base glaze. It does craze so our
next project will be to see if we can move it down to the same range as our
base and still get a nice red.
