Friends,

For those of you that don't know me, I am the owner of The Potters Shop and
we are sellers of pottery books and videos. I just received a copy of the long
out of print and very difficult to find book Watercolour On Porcelain by Arne
Ase. I could sell it in a heartbeat for gobs of money but instead I would like
to do something different.

Many of you know that my family and I are involved in an event called the Pan
Mass Challenge, Some of you are regular donors to our efforts and I thank you
for that. It is a 192 mile bicycle ride from Sturbridge to Provincetown MA
that raises money for pediatric cancer treatment and research at the Jimmy Fund
of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. We participate in honor and
memory of our son and brother Jared who passed away from the disease in 2005. He
too was a potter. My idea? We are going to have an CLAYART auction of
Watercolour On Porcelain with all of the proceeds of the book going to the Jimmy Fund.
It is a way for everyone to get involved in an amazing event for a
wonderful cause. Here is how it will work:

The book will be on display in the CLAYART Room at NCECA and bids will be
accepted either via e mail or in person in the CLAYART room. Email your bids to
the CLAYART list AND to my e mail address <>. Bids that
go only to the list may not be recorded so be sure to email it to me as well as
the list.

Opening bid is $100. You can monitor the bidding on CLAYART and everyday I
will post the highest bid with the subject line being "Pan Mass Challenge"

Bid as often as you like.

Bidding will close at 4PM March 21 and the winner will be announced that
evening at the CLAYART mug exchange in Pittsburgh. You do not have to be present
to win. If the winner is not present to claim the book I will ship it to the
winner.

Friends, by participating in this you will be helping in the fight against
cancer. You will be helping children and their families. You will be riding with
us from Sturbridge to Provincetown. You will be living Jared's hope and his
legacy...........to rid the world of this terrible disease so that your
children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren never have to hear the word cancer
again.

with thanks and deep appreciation,

Steven
