I've been using a Tom Coleman porcelaineous white clay body for some
months. As I understand it, this is a white stoneware which acts much
like porcelain, except it's easier to throw than regular porcelain. It
may be ordered from Ardvaark Clay in Santa Ana, CA. Telephone:
714-541-4157.

While I'm looking up addresses and titles, the rotten stone that I
mentioned using at some point and about which I received several e-mails
can be purchased through Empire Blended Products, Inc, Bayville, New
Jersey. 908-269-4959. Information about rotten stone is in "Out of the
Earth into the Fire" by Mimi Obstler ISBN 1-57498-008-4. Beautiful book,
chock-full of information about glazes. Beware to all of us newbies and
intermedies, it is NOT just a list of recipes. However, if you're
interested in glaze materials and in testing, it's wonderful. Between
that and Robin Hopper's "The Ceramic Spectrum," and Clayart, we have no
excuse to not learn the glaze portion of our craft. I have other
favorites but they deal with salt or raku, or they take a too complex,
technical perspective on glazes for me at my level at the moment. If
I am really stumped, I holler for June Perry or Peggy Heer or Karen
Gringhuis who always come through no matter how busy they are, even if
it's after midnight. Or Vince, or Craig or Jack...my goodness...so many.
Thanks guys.
