Lucas Samaras and Meret Oppenheim were good examples of the fur lined tea
cup.

One example of the Samaras cup is in "The History Modern Art" by H.H.
Arnason.

I prefer the Samaras. His chair transformations are another excellent
example of denying function and achieving a more thoughtful examination of
an everyday functional object. I never felt quite the same about cups and
chairs after seeing Samaras's work and hearing him speak. Not to mention
what he could do with a Polaroid.

You were lucky to have such an informed art teacher in high school.

... unless, of course, it's funk art functional such as
a fur-lined tea bowl. ... an example one of my high
school art teachers used to give.
