hi ron,
i looked for your e-mail address but nooo.

thank you so much for looking into this problem.

i am using ^10 b mix and usually pretty heavy reduction.
fire to 11.

baileys red
custer 47
400 mesh silica 13
grolleg 13
talc 10.5
bone ash 14
lith.carb 2.5

rio 8

there you go ,
and i do have spodumene on hand.

thank you, thank you !

and i think we are going to drop the millring after hearing
it's not foodsafe... we do too much domestic ware.

we got a test out today the baileys likes the old
peach black.. and over my rutile base (lip dip) very nice.

Hi Kris,

Try this and also this half and half with your original - I've lowered the
expansion a lot so you should to the test for shivering - freeze for 24
hours - if not cracked pour in boiling water while still frozen - in the
sink in case it cracks. Better not do that till it has been out of the kiln
for a few day to see if it rings.

It may need some adjustments - watch out for running till you are sure it's
behaving.

hi ron,
thank you so much ,
we won't be firing for a while,we are into winter
slow down. (thank goodness).
but when we do the next fire, i'll post the results
of both.

and thank you for the info about shivering,
but wouldn't pouring boiling water on a frozen
pot break it anyway?

thank you again

Hi Kris,

Any mug should be able to take boiling water for starters - having the clay
frozen just makes for a more definative test.

Yes many potters have used this test - if your ware breaks during it you
can assume the liner glazes has too low an expansion.
