i have given up on both norton and other pay as you go
anti virus software.

avg/grisoft has been perfect.

had a terrible norton problem
i had to fix for a friend yesterday.
total breakdown of all internet systems.
it was a stuck virus in norton.

i got rid of all norton exe's and everything came
back to life in a heart beat.
added avg and updated it. bingo.
no more problems.
she had a tech out, searched high and low.
no one could fix it.
i just blasted that damn norton off her computer and
all is perfect.

it is hard to believe that avg is better, cleaner and free.
norton and macafee are expensive and often are a bigger
cause of trouble then they fix.

i update avg twice a day. it does an auto scan at 2 a.m.
as you all know...i am probably in 5,000 address books.
anyone that gets a virus in outlook it sends to me too.
so...i have to be careful. it is one of the big headaches
with being moderator.

so....take good care of your computer, and it will take good care
of you.

My Minneapolis computer has Norton's on it. Will keep until the
updates run out.

I think I introduced the list to AVG years ago. I had good
luck with it. When I changed to fiber optic broadband, I switched to
another free program Avast:

I installed AVG yesterday. It found an infected file that
had been on my computer for several years. Norton and
PC-Cillin had missed that file.

Yeah, and if you were running Linux you wouldn't have anything to do but
laugh at them.
But you know that....don't you boss?
Best,

Hi Mel,

I used AVG for quite a while and liked it fine. My service provider (Cogeco)
now provides FSecure for all customers who want it, at no extra charge, so I
switched to it - it is fine for my system (which is still running Windows 98.)
