uranium/monona

With all this frightening disucssion of the use of extremely toxic
materials, I keep wondering "Where is Monona?" We really need that
straight-talking, shoot-from-the-lip style to keep those of us who are
not pros alert to VERY REAL DANGERS to the potter. Indeed, we are
responsible for ourselves, but newbies or intermedies (such as I) can be
lulled into a false sense of complacency when we hear what we want to
hear. We are also responsible for dangerous attitudes we might help
create in our fellow potters. Some of us haven't been "new to pottery"
in a long, long time and may have forgotten how the new potter only
processes and sequences part of any lengthy message...usually the part
that says, "It's okay. Don't worry. Be happy. Use your uranium."
We do NOT hear necessarily the buried message about educating ourselves
to the possible dangers.
