This is just a thought and not sure if it would work, but what about
firing them on the rim leaving the rim unglazed, and then glaze the
rim with 04 glaze, refire to 04 with stilts on the bottom? I realize
this would affect the functionality since your clay is higher cone.
Also possibly pit firing?
