dragon kiln

Gang: I have a pile of great pics to show you over the next few days. the
first stop was a dragon kiln over 200 feet long used to fire water jars and
roof tiles. Wait till the standard of living rises here in China and
everyone buys a water cooler and these beautiful water jars will cease to be
made. The roof tiles will soon be replaced with steel corragated.
hope all this blog is of interest to y'all. I'm trying to keep up with it
and do all that is expected of me here. the language classes are tuff but
daily contact with some new Chinese friends is helping alot.
Best,
Tony

Tony, please know your blog is facinating stuff.
My non potter husband and I read every word and
study the wonderful pictures. I am learning a lot
about China and it has now made it to my list of
things I have to do.

I'm sure plenty on the list are following it and not commenting

Hi Angela,
I told Tony the same thing . My non-potter hubby & I check the "Tony Report" everynight right after dinner. Is that Dragon kiln something or what?!? My knees & back let out a primal scream when my eyes saw the kiln but my hands started itching & I got this stupid ear to ear grin at the thought of taking part in the making of pots for & firing that kiln . DANG !my body just needs to make up it's mind !
Take it easy!

Hey Tony,

It's of interest, thanks for blogging China.

Then dragon kiln is great, and the big pots impressive. Too bad they
let anyone paint those awful decorations on them.

Thanks Logan for the chime in, I am anxious for Tony
to know we want him to continue.

That post left my laptop before I was finished, I'll post the rest here
in case anyone thinks I'm getting forgetful in my old age and not
bothering to sign my submissions. :-)

Rest of unfinished post.......

I'm sure plenty on the list are following it and not commenting,
please don't stop writing (Tony). (If your not reading smokieclennell
click on the link at the end of Tony's post and get hooked.)

Tony, I'm still waiting for a lamp post photo and you have to get a picture
of
the kiln they fire those 2 story pots in!

Thank you for the 200 ft kiln photo today, amazing!

I'm in a hurry today, leaving for NC in a few hours but will make sure to
folow the China saga.

Maggie: Here is the contact. It is not the same Bob Anderson that Mel posted
pics of his pots. Different guy, different pots all together.
contact- bob.anderson@mail.wvu.edu i had the pleasure of spending the day
with Joe Molinaro the emperor of Clayart. Joe and I toured a real sweat shop
of ladies making ceramic decals- 1000 per day. the company sells them for
$13 per 1000 so what does the lady make????????

The lady makes damn-all, Tony. If everyone in the family
including children work relentlessly every day, they can
eat and sleep. Maybe.

One of the not-to-be-mentioned things about Communist
China is the extremely difficult lives led by much of the
populace. Some of the images being brought out of
there lately, where the 10 year olds are working for food
and a cot to sleep on - gut wrenching.

Your journey will have lots of levels of interest.

Looks like you are enjoying your visit. I read everything you write about
Jingdezhen as I miss it greatly.

I am in Ios Greece right now and I must say that when I was in China I
thaought the language was greek to me. Now that I am in Greece I find the
language is like Chinese to me. I can't win.

Keep up your posts and I really like your photos.
