Dear Linda Blossom,

I suppose since the event of 9/11 and the growth of the "Homeland =
Security" industry, rules and regulations about chemical supplies have =
tightened and you have to provide Bona Fides to get access to raw =
chemicals.

I did have a brief crawl around the web searching for Mr Arne Ase. Found =
Ceramic Today which has a two part article. But there were no entries in =
our State Library nor in UniSA library which has a strong ceramic arts =
dept.

My own take is that you need either the Chlorides or Nitrates and =
perhaps Citrates or Acetates of Transitional Metals... V, Cr, Mn, Fe, =
Co, Ni, Cu. you could add Ag nitrate which will give a yellow or a brown =
depending on the strength of your solution to the list. I would avoid =
using sulphates.

Years and years ago I used Artists Grade Watercolour Paints to paint =
onto bisque and opaque white glaze to get acceptable results. but the =
pigments didn't suffuse into the clay as soluble salts would.

Best regards,

Ivor
