Still fretting about this, that and the other thing...

I was wondering- the Fedex site says that the cheapest shipping rate will
get a package delivered in 1-5 business days. Can I rely on that or do I
need to leave extra time?

I have had some interesting experiences with shipping. From one
company I paid for overnight express as I needed the element for my
kiln the next day. It did not arrive the next day and I was able to
call them before they closed...it had not left the shipping room!
Needless to say I was ticked. They made no extra effort to make sure
overnight express packages left the same day they were ordered and
stated the pick-up guy must have overlooked it in the shipping room.
Yesterday I ordered a couple of other things that we need by Saturday
for an event on Sunday. Paid for 2-3 business days shipping.
Thought I would call the company to make sure the order went out the
same day I ordered it. They told me I would have to pay an extra $5
to 'expedite' it. So, yes, I would leave extra time for your order.

Hi Carole,
It wouldn`t hurt anything if you can send 3 days earlier as
far as I can see. Calming to the nerves.

Carole:
There is a BIG difference between Fedex Express and Fedex Ground.
I do not use Fedex Ground for shipping, as it is often subcontracted,
but that's just me.
I often receive things via Ground.
Personally, I don't mind spending a bit more for the service that Fedex
Express provides.

That said, their shipping time estimates are usually "spot on", unless
they are delayed
by bad weather preventing a flight. (That has happened to me, but only
once in 20 years).

To be on the safe side, I would give it an extra 24 hours. Just in case.
Best,

My experience with Fed Ex ground is that it is very consistent in the number
of days it takes to reach a particular zone. For example, from Arizona it
almost always takes exactly 5 business days for a package to reach the
east coast or 2 days to southern CA or 1 day to Sedona from Tucson.
And if it differs, it usually arrives a day earlier.
