Hello Potters, Another point about the Val Cushing glaze. The rainbow =
effect of the Rusty Bronze over the Amy's Blue Violet can only be =
achieved with a quick cool. If cooled slowly, the overlap will matte up =
and turn an ugly (to me) brownish color. Also, the effects I prefer with =
this glaze are when it varies between matte and shiny areas on the same =
piece. With a slower cool, it will be primarily matte overall. I had a =
Cone Art kiln with 3 inch firebrick that I actually sold because I just =
couldn't get the effects I wanted with a faster cooling (I know - the =
"more insulation is better" contingent is gasping - sorry). I now have =
a Skutt 1027 with 2 1/2 inch firebrick, and that gives me the effects I =
want with these glazes, anyway. I can program for a slower cool if I =
want to try that with other glazes.
