Making art from clay is all about form, isn't it? Or
is it surface? Yes, that's right, it's surface! If
you can get to Long Island, New York September 6-8 you
can attend the "Creations in Clay" conference and
decide for yourself! :-)

I'm fortunate enough to be one of the presenters, and
I'll be talking about glazes. We will begin with the
basics that affect all of us such as glaze behavior in
the bucket and making glazes durable and safe. Using
examples from all firing temperatures we'll explore
glaze formulation--how to make glazes that are
matte...or glossy, that run...or don't run. Questions
and examples from those who attend will be used to
illustrate key points. There's so much more I won't
go into in this shameless self-promotion, but I do
hope you can join us!

Other presenters at this conference are:
Steven Branfman - The Thrown Vessel & Surface
Dan Christoffel - Small Scale Sculpture
Gina Mars - Large Closed Forms & Platters & Portals
Ruth Sachs - Geometric Shapes In Clay
Tim Scull - Terra Sigillatta & Carbon Fired Pottery
Paul Andrew Wandless - Image Transfer

The conference, "Creations In Clay: Slab & Wheel Work"
is all day September 7 & 8 with a get-together the
evening of the 6th, and is at the Art League of Long
Island (www.artleagueli.org) at 107 East Deer Park
Rd., Dix Hills, NY 11746. If you have questions
e-mail pottersworkshops@yahoo.com
Register online at:

It would be great if you guys could make that a road show and bring it to
other areas of the continent. I would drive say 250 miles to be there
especially if there is a place nearby to camp out.
