another scam showing up

updated thu 16 aug 07

Jeanette Harris on wed 15 aug 07

I've been getting emails saying I have a greeting card (e-card)
someone has sent me. But when you look at the full header, it's
usually the numerical address of an individual computer or just
doesn't look right. Today I have two that have originated from Italy.

No clue about how they found me except that it's probably a shotgun
address attempt through comcast.

I've been getting those e-card e-mails as well...just started a few days
ago. I'm with Ameritech (I guess AT&T now), so it's all over the place.

Hopefully they don't start calling...yikes!

I was dumb enough to click the link. Immediately my firewall
starting blasting VIRUS INTERCEPTED messages at me.

Don't try this at home

those plant a tracking cookie in your computer. General rule of thumb:
never click a link in any email unless you know for sure who it is from.

Those e-cards contain destructive viruses, so don't open them at all.
Found that out on snopes.com. Kathryn in NC --- In
