I took off for a month (s) of obligatons and committments. I am now
getting ready for Taylor and
his wife Marsha to come down to southmost Texas and raku for a
weekend. I just unloaded my first big clay shipment .
I have been using what I brought with me from Montana. I have to do
some repair on one raku kiln and get another
one built before Taylor gets here. Maybe we'll build it WHEN he gets
here. I am also scheduled to do a raku workshop for the local Art
Museum in Brownsville. I made 100 tea bowls for a tea tasting
fundraiser that coincides with a national teapot show and I made some
teapots for their auction.
I have a bunch of big slabs to fire when Taylor gets here.
I have been following Clayart through the archives when I could
access it. Anyway, I will be reading and participating more regularly
now.
Good to hear from Stephani in southern Ca.
Summer daze here are not as sublime as winter days here. My winter
studio has a great view of migrating birds and waterfowl, palm trees
and Spanish daggers.
Unloading a pallet of clay in this heat is a really sweaty job. BUT
nothing freezers down here so much of my storage is outside as
compared to Montana.
Nice to be back with y'all.

Hi, y'all!
I am back on CLayart after a busy Fall with aging parent. I have to
go back in another week but missed everyone here.
Gearing up for new productivity in balmy winter in South Texas.
Hope all is well with everyone.

hi Deborah,
I will be working much of the NCECA time at the La Meridiana along
with Russel Fouts and Tony Clennell.
We're about 6 hours south of Houston. It feels like a beautiful
summer day in Montana..except it's winter in South Texas.
I did get my finger tip controlled raku kiln pulley system
operational this past Dec. And I have started a new series of raku
plaques with our S> texas exotic birds. I am working of greens and
blues for the magnificant green jays. The Alta Mira Oriole is my
other favorite, but then there are so many..the Roseate Spoon bills
are awesome.
Nice to be back.

but, we have run into a huge spam/virus attack.
the tech at acers has spent two days working to get
things back.
he will work tomorrow too.
(we will be down for some time.)

keep your notes short and to the point.
in fact, sent two short instead of one long.

this has been a nightmare. the computer was
attacked sunday, they got in, and sent thousands
of spams from our computer.
ass of all ass.
so.

we will be on and off til monday.
but, make do right now.

I'm back. Two trips to the East Coast in 2 weeks!=20
Had a fabulous time and took tons of pictures.
In the mug exchange I got a nice little bowl=20
the size of a baseball from Kathleen Gorden and=20
it is a jewel. My Hillary cup sold in the Cup=20
Sale for a very good price.

I thought I was smart and decided Saturday at=20
NCECA was a bust and the ClayArt room was closed=20
up. So I made for the Airport to see if I could=20
save a day off the hotel bill. Well two taxi=20
rides at the coming and going cost m=F8re than the=20
hotel bill.

I just missed the bus to the airport in=20
Pittsburgh , took a cab. I had the driver stop at=20
a Primanti Brothers Cafe to get one of their=20
sandwiches before we left town since United no=20
longer feeds you. That sandwich was lunch and=20
dinner. Those things are awesome. Roast beef,=20
cheese , frys, and slaw all inside the bun.

The United agent got me on a plane to ORD=20
(Chicago) with a seat on a San Francisco flight=20
that gets there after midnight.

Do not ever go to ORD if you can avoid it! They=20
kept me on Standby at two different earlier=20
flights and kept moving them around to different=20
gates miles apart. I bet I walked 10 miles. I did=20
not make any of the standbys because they said=20
they could not find my luggage. So I waited=20
around there all day and evening and finally got=20
on the late plane.

When I got to SFO - no luggage. United managed=20
to lose my big bag with all my goodies from=20
NCECA, It was 1 AM before I got out of there and=20
all the Airporters were shut down so I had to=20
take another cab to Mill Valley.

A change in luck - I got my bag back three days=20
later just in time to keep from buying a new bag=20
for my second trip .

Then it was off to Salem Mass for the 50th=20
reunion of the North Shore Frogmen of which I am=20
a life member. The second trip I brought Nan=20
along and everything went fine like planned.

When I got home again there were a thousand spams=20
in my email box and I am just now getting back to=20
normal.
