Hello ClayArters,

I have finally gotten around to rebuilding my spray booth and thought I
would share the design, as there has been general interest in home made
spray booths over the years. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions you
might have.

Hello Chris, all,

I'll answer a couple of questions people have e-mailed:

Since I am spraying in an out door shed, my filtering consists of a
pair of small house vents slightly altered, which are essentially a
series of louvers. My aim is to catch as much of the over spray as
possible without having to buy filter media. The louvers are easily
washable. Because I don't use a furnace type filter, the fan I am
using seems adequate. It is rated at 1079 low speed, 1627 high
speed. Without louvers in place the slower speed is good. The
overall dimensions are 28" deep, 27" wide, and 48" high. The larger
the front opening, the more powerful blower required. This is why
there is a piece of plywood across the front bottom, reducing the
opening's area.

Although the booth seems good at getting air born particles away, I
still use a respirator.

I have a tendency to spray in a somewhat downward angle, first
spraying the piece upside down, then spraying the piece right side
up, so this is why the air flow direction works well for me. With
heavily textured pieces, it's the only way I can get good glaze
coverage.

Cheers,

Gordon
