Hi all!

Another thing that helps save your back is strengthening all of the
other muscles that you might not necessarily notice you are using -
the supporting ones, in other words. I had a lot less back trouble
when I started walking regularly - even just 30 minutes a day -
because it helped strengthen all of the supporting muscles. I think
stronger muscles all around that area keeps the area working together
better as a whole.

I too limit my sitting time at the wheel. I only have so many balls
of clay within reach which forces me to get up and stretch between
runs. Since I also work on slabs it is easy for me to alternate, and
good for my aching knees.

Happy potting everyone!

I have also found that putting my tools on a shelf higher up so that I must
reach for them. It is a little more inconvenient but it forces me to
stretch. I also tell all of my students to sit closer to the wheel and not
to "sit in their navel".
